Default Graph

This spring I'll probably be getting a new (used) boat and will need a graph. Since they are a weak point for me and I use mine just to check out deph I'll be needing a new one. Letting the old one go with the old boat. I would like something under 3 or 4 hundred. Easy to understand also. Not to bright when it comes to understanding all those directions. Thanks for suggestions.

bob
best bang for your buck would be and eagle fish mark. basicly a lowrance system..either a 500color or a 480
it has all the bells and whistles of a $1000 dallor graph for about $350. i have used mine for 5 years no problem..

i have a lowrance X135 on the bow of my boat and i love it. i gave a little under $400 for it. it has 480 x 480 pixels which is the same as the fishmark 480 from eagle. a buddy of mine uses the fishmark 480 and really likes it. i would say in the amount of money you are talking, either of these would be great. both are excellent locators.

I just got the Fish Mark 480, (Thank you Zooker for reccommending...), for my craft this year, but I'm yet to use it, (this Spring). I do have a few questions though....

1) What does a school of baitfish, (not shad, they aren't present up here) look like?

2) What should I set the sensitivity at for normal fishing?

3) What else do I need to know for it to function correctly?

I also have a x135 on the front of my boat and it has great detail for the price. But if you can spend 500 dollars, lowrance x510c is the best graph for you because it is color, easy to read and simple and is 499 in bass proshops

a guy in my club has the 510c and it is a great locator. i almost bought it instead of my x135, but thought for dropshotting the x135 would be a little better.

For ease of use and to better understand graphs the X135 in my opinion is prolly the best there is on the market BAE NONE. If you are just starting out in boating and have never used a graph I agree with zook on the Eagle Fish Mark. VERY easy to use just not alot of power. The X135 has everything coverd and is a 399 unit. I can prolly get you one for under or ariound 300 if you are interested. Lemme know and I will hook you up.
Boater you have a good way of putting things and I have never thought of it that way. Yes Eagle is a division of Lowrance. The dont build as advanced units as Lowrance does. This does not make Eagle inferior in any way. They are GREAT units that I have used for years before stepping up to Lowrance units now.

Humminbird makes a black and white graph with depth and a GPS for finding your way around. Might want to check it out.
