Default Cloudy Overcast...good fishin?

hey guys, me again. I was wondering, with a dark cloudy, and overcast day, is this good fishing weather to go out in? obviously for my protection wear the right gear, but are fish biting more than usual on cloudy/rainy days?

Beware of the lightning, it will mess up a good fishing rod.
Lost a friend to a lightning stike while he was pre-fishing for a tounament about 20 or so years ago.

some of my best days have been when its raining so hard you could barely see your hand in front of your face. The fish get turned on when the barometer drops. My favorite baits to throw in the rain is a LockLizard lure a spinner bait and a buzz bait. A pop r works too.

I will be the fish swimming up stream. The biggest larges i have caught have been in bright sunshine midday under high pressure. And not hiding in the shade either. Maybe they were in hyrdilla out of the sun, I cant say. But my lures werent buried in the drilla. The cloudier days usually have a bit more wind, or thats just how my days out have been. Now I may be missing bites in high winds with my line bowed, but when my lakes are choppy (often on cloudy days or storms coming), I struggle.

We may all know by now that bass cant close their eyes so generally hate the sun and avoid it, but I have been shutout on shady days as often as bright sunny days. Truth be told in the torrential downpours, I bail so dont have much time in the heavy rain. But I have logged lots of time in light rain and just plain old cloudy days.

I don't know about anybody else, but I would try a -black buzzbait w/ a trailer hook. This is my go to topwater, when fishin' choppy water.

yeah, i don't know much about all of this...I just know that bass don't really care for sunny days too much....and that's kinda why I asked. I know on the sunnier days i go out, i stick kinda close to the grassy areas, well grass on the bed of the pond or lake anyway, and sometimes i like to fish near the pads, but i get worried about losing some of my lures/baits in there.....like a few jerkbaits i have, my lipless crank, and especially my spinnerbait

Ya can't worry about losing lures in the pads man , but ya also shouldn't be chucking a spinner into the heart of the either . I'll usually fish the edges of the pads with spinner then chuck a soft plastic bait into the pads and either drag it across the top of them letting it fall into the holes or add a weight to it to punch it through the pads . Fishing like that spells braided line all the way man .

oh ok cool, my buddy from my dad's work gave me a number of the small hollow double-hooked mice and frogs that he uses, and says he used to pitch them on top of pads....i will try that...also, i think I am going to roll with 20-30lb PP Braid...any thoughts on this particular line?

Fireline Braid. It is the end-all, be-all of braid as far as I'm concerned. It is so much better than Power Pro or Stren as to be laughable.

I would go 50lb or up on the braid man diameter wise it is not much more and it will dig into the spool a lot less .

50 pound braid is the same dia as 12 pound mono...

as long as your not throwing light baits you wont have any problems...
