Not to sound like a smart @$$, but what are you fishing for? Even in the salt water, the fish determines the bait. I usually throw more of the hair jigs and spoons than worms. I go to worms once in a while if I am surf fishing and the bite is slow.

I would go with a 4-6" plastic grub onto a 1/2 jig head for calm waters, and 3/8 - 1oz jig head, for ruff waters, I used to live next a salt water canal, I would use white body and pink tailed jigs with a 1/2 oz pink jig head and killed the cravallies (jack)!
Like this only in pink and white: These = These!

I would stick with the womrs if your primary target is jack.
I haven't thrown the grubs so I can't say yes or no to that. But I will say that the time on the salt water made you look a lot older there bassboss

not at the depths we catch them. any fish in shallow saltwater has them..and i do mean EVERYTHING..grouper get them if they are shallow -under 300 feet-that jack came up 900 feet of sheer cliff face..so no water pressure on the fish at that depth basicly would kill them..
notice ya don't see land in that pic....65 miles out in the gulf valley. this is there way of rubbing it in... zooker
