Default Couple Rods

Looking to pick up two new rods here in the "off" season. I need one for throwing spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, and another for throwing crankbaits. Looking to spend around $100 on the pair. Now i need yalls help. What two rods should i get and what length and weight would be best? Thanks in advance!!!

Hokie-do you have an Academy Sports and Outdoors in your area?

I can't say for sure which brand and model you should buy. I know BPS told me there would soon be some good deals offered for Christmas season shoppers. However, I will tell you that for spinnerbaits, I prefer a 6 1/2 MH action rod with a fairly fast tip. As for crankbaits, I like a 6 1/2 - 7 foot medium action rod.

Hokie - if you want to go custom I can put you in touch with a maker in Woodbridge, VA. One of the big guns on the Potomac River has a crankbait rod that he loves that was custom made. I believe it is in your price range. Send me a PM if interested.

One rod should do nicely for both, unless the size and type of the line you plan to use varies significantly. Both spinnerbaits and crankbait rods should have a moderate action, especially if you are using a no or low stretch line (don't confuse action with power). If you're spooling mono, a fast action rod works just fine.
Rod power is really only a reccomendation of what lb. test line you should use on that rod.
