Down and out for a little while
Man...what started out as a fun little excursion this evening ended really badly. Not as bad as it could have, but still bad.
I went fishing at the riverfront tonight after work. We netted some skipjack and went after some Stripers. I even hooked a decent one (a couple of pounds), but didn't get him to the bank. I stayed too late however, and while trying to navigate my way back up the steep rip-rap and boulder bank in the dark, a rock slipped out from under me, and I took a rolling header about 25 feet down the bank. Somehow I did not break anything...other than one of my St. Croix spinning rods and one of my Cabela's XML baitcasting rods. Broke them clean in half while cartwheeling head over heels. No broken bones, but a totally ripped up shin, forearm, an aching back, and probably a hundred other aches and pains I will only discover in the morning when I try to get out of bed. A couple of complete strangers actually scrambled up from the water to make sure I wasn't dead. I'd like to have that one on video. I can only imagine it looked nuts from their viewpoint. I still don't understand how I did not smack my head on all of those rocks. I got a nice scrape on my chin though...didn't even realize it happened until I got home and looked in the mirror. Anyways, I think I am out of commission for a while. Someone shoot me, please.

So sorry to hear about your mishap. Sounds like a wild ride you had there. You're right though, it could have been a lot worse. Hope you recover quickly!

Nofear us big guys aren't made to go some places. You could go crawl back in JB's tent and get massage.
Hope your aches and pains go away soon.

aw man. I sure hate to hear that.
In my last tournament, i was fishing alone and i hooked a solid 2lb fish on a splash it(a 16$ pop r) and went to run to the back of my boat to get the net, wellllll i ended up tripping over my cooler and fell face first into the bottom of my boat, bent my net, scrapped me elbow, and scraped my hand. well while all this big panic was going on, the fish wrapped himself around a stump and popped my line and swam off with my bait in his mouth BUT The day did get better. caught 2 solid keepers and came in 6th place.

NFE I hate to hear you took a tumble, but I am glad to hear there was no major damage. Taking a fall on the rocks can be a bad deal for sure. Especially when you are frantically clinging to your gear and trying to save it from any major damage. Ah, the acrifice we will make. The rocks probably didn't break your gear, it was probably the kung-fu Bruce Lee grip. Just trying to make light of it man, but I hope everything heels up quick for you.

Wow, sorry to read about your rough and tumble experience. And all those broken rods! Better than a broken neck, but still. Hopefully you'll mend up soon enough to get back out before ice up. Get some rest and mend quickly buddy.

Gee, I sure hope the rocks are ok....
Sorry to hear about your spill. Its a wonder that more people arent injured walking on rocks like that, you are really lucky that you dont have more serious injuries. Rods can be replaced, but bones can't. Unless you are the bionic man. In which case, awesome. But since we dont have that technology yet, not so much. But itd be cool to be on tv. I dont like tv much though. Did I mention I have add? Time for coffee.. ..

LMAO.... You got that right. And climbing anything other than into the recliner or onto a barstool is just asking for trouble.
Hope you didn't get hurt too bad NoFear. May the painkillers be kind to you this morning.

Ugh...I feel like I've just crawled out of a plane crash. Nothing is as much fun as pulling stuck-on dressings off of 3" x 3" scrapes and then putting it under a hot shower. YEEOWCH!!
Thanks for the well wishes. I just limped into the office and I'm sitting here thinking "come on weekend on the couch...come on weekend...."

Seriously, Bryce, take it easy and heal up. Hot showers for the muscle aches, Neosporin for the scrapes and cuts, and Scotch for the headache...

I definitely have mental problems, because I was just looking at the new Abu Vendetta rods to replace my fallen warriors.

Does anyone else hear the rocky music as they read this?
Seriously though, take the time to heal up.

Thats why I hate fishing off rocky, steep banks...One slip can snap an ankle, or worse, real quick....Man thats a horrible way to end a Wednesday.Im glad to hear you bounce well.
Screw the medicine, pain relievers, bandages, whiskey and cheap porn. Buy yourself a new rod(s)!! What better way to recover than with new gear. (Good thing your tackle bag has the tote handle so you dont hurt your shoulder..hahaha,finally snuck that in)

Anyways, thanks for all the well wishes...at least my hands can still type. I'd hate to be stuck with the Steven Hawking thing.

Sorry to hear about that fall, nofear. I've had some nasty tumbles wading with my bro in the Potomac. Been scraped and bruised many times. Hopefully those aches go away quickly. Unfortunately, it sounds like the bait monkey is gonna give you another sound beating once you're recovered! On second thought, maybe it's fortunate, lol.

I forgotten how ''mean'' those Vendetta rods look.
They are just plain cool looking..I wonder what the ''soft touch'' real seat feels like? I may have to see if BPS has them in stores this Saturday.

I posted it at 9:15. It would have been 7:15 in Sodom, where you live.
