If it is really muddy then use a lure that doesnt look like something they are seen. Use Bright colors like pink, orange, and yellow. Stuff like that should work great.

Chartreuse and other bright colors are easiest for a bass to see. Good lure choices are a buzzbait, jig, wide wobbling crankbait, spinnerbait with large Colorado blade, and a lizard. Cast large noisy lures or those with a lot of flash.

Trout77, the key to fishing muddy water is sound and vibration. My go-to muddy water bait is a spinnerbait with a big single Colorado (tear drop shaped) blade. It puts out more vibration and is easier for the fish to find. A noisy, wide wobbling crankbait or a big jig that will move a lot of water are also good choices. Also, Fish as tight to cover as possible. In low visibility like you get with muddy water the fish need a reference so they are real tight to cover.
