Trick For Labeling Your Reels

If you fish a lot of rods, you will invariably run into the problem of not knowing what kind of line is on a particular reel. Fluorocarbon and monofilament look identical, but their uses are very different. So in this video, we show anglers an inexpensive tip for easily marking their reels with what type and size fishing line is loaded on the spool. You'll be amazed at how simple and effective this tip is.

When you're out fishing, it's really important to know what fishing line is on your reel. And if you're fishing a lot of reels, a lot of times it's hard to tell just by looking at it whether it is fluorocarbon or monofilament, or if it's 12 lb. test compared to 15 lb. test. So there's got to be a way to designate, or at least mark your reels with which fishing line is actually loaded on the spool.

I'm going to show you a way that I use that does a really good job and is very inexpensive. When you get a new spool of fishing line, it will often come with a white sticker. You've probably seen that it keeps the line on the spool. Now what I'll do is I'll take the sticker and cut off a small little square. Now take that little square and put it right on the reel. Surprisingly, the sticker will not fall off or peel off, even in high humidity, rain and other wet conditions. It actually stays on the reel. Then, all you have to do is take a ball point pen, and right down the line type and line size on the sticker.

Don't use a marker. A marker is too much ink and will bleed. The ball point pen works great and doesn't bleed or fade. This way, you always know what type and size of line is loaded on your spool.
