Do these actually do what they say they do, or they they a gimick? I] Your boat will plane in less than half the time and you'll experience smoother boat stability. It can save up to 40% on fuel and add up to 20% to top-end speed.[/I] |

They will get you on plane quicker and let you run at slower speeds without coming off plane. My 25 Hp doesn't use much gas.I went the whole summer on 40 gallons of gas.I guess I am on the trolling motor fishing more than I am using the motor. P N J

on a tiller moter the reduce steering torque a ton -makes it easier to turn- it saves you gas by letting you throttle back while stayin on plane at lower rpm. have one on my 25 and one on my 30 tiller only draw back i have seen is it knocks off about 1 mph off your wot speed.. zooker

Yes they do work and as zooker stated they do scrub off WOT times. Actually they are a bandaid for a boat that is actually not propped correctly unless you need to be able to stay on plane at slower speeds. Actually they are great additions to smaller boats or heavier rigs but on a well setup faster hull they do impair WOT speeds by as much as 5 mph.

BassKicker You have to weigh out your pro's and cons before you make your descion buddy. On a smaller outboard it would be a plus and you wouldnt know the small amount of speed loss. A 25 on say a 14ft john would jmp on plane and only loose approx 1mph. On larger hulls is where you start to scrub off more speed. On the smaller boats they enable you to carry loads better and even smooth out the ride in some instances. Depends on the hull you fishing. |

Definatley save your money on that 1. Dont think they make one small enough for that motor anyway. Plus the 5hp is already at a disadvantage on that boat. LOL save ur money and buy a 15 then she will scoot.
