If you're having backlashes, its more than likely not a product of the line. What are your brakes set at..and the tension control knob? Are you making smooth casts? are you stopping the spool BEFORE it hits water or anything else? are you holding the spool after you stop it or releasing again?

ok,that's just not true!!!the limper the line the less backlash and braid is limp.it's also a untruth that it is hard to get a backlash out of.

The good thing about backlashing with braid is you have much less of a risk of abrading the line when trying to pull it out. Really light mono can even get nicks and kinks from being pulled taut against itself like in a bad backlash. I'm not sure how much that effects line strength in actual tests, but I suspect it does have an effect.

I have to agree with dodgeguy...i have thrown both over the years and the fact of the matter is i have experienced less backlashes with the braids and that is with my technique being the same...i will say this though, you do have to set the reel up differently when you change from one to the other type line...at least i do.

backlashes aren't caused by line, by casting techniques, wind, brakes, or tension control knobs! They're caused by them dag gum baitcasters!

Take your baitcaster in your backyard with some stiff mono, put the brakes and tension all the way up, and throw a large lure until you stop backlashing. After two to three hours of this kind of practice, you will have learned techniques that will slow down backlash. Then, put on the braid and go fishing. You'll still backlash, but it won't happen every cast, and you will be throwing like a pro in a week or two.

			Take a look here:

http://pages.infinit.net/fishing/bait101.htm It will show you how to set the reel up so backlashes are not such a problem. They WILL occasionally happen-it is the nature of the beast .

i just put some suffix braid on 2 rods.i like it better than power pro so far.it's smoother and handles better with less tip wrap.we will see how it does after a season.
