				 | Paca Craw: the good, bad, and ugly

I picked up some paca craws (Alabama color) at BPS a couple of weeks ago. I decided to do some smallie fishing today, so I gave the pacas a shot. I used them on stand up jig heads with a skirt. My first fish was a largemouth about 2.75 lbs. The first fish tore off a pincer. The next fish on the same paca was a dink smallie. The other pincer came off and the paca was ripped to the point I had to replace it. So, the action of the pincers is good, but the durability is bad. The paca gets mangled to easily in my opinion. Despite the negative aspects of the pacas, I am sold on them. I'll try a few other colors some time in the near future. Hopefully, I can find some on sale. |

I have been sold on Paca Craws since the first time I was introduced to them. I haven't found anything negative about them. I use Paca chunks on my jigs. -Chris

Rarely one to follow the "fads", I've not used the Pacas. However, being a "downsizer", mostly due to the prevalence of dinks in our Texas "Highland" lakes, I DID purchase the little Craw Papi made by YUM. I've only used them three times, both T-rigged and as a trailer on a 1/8 oz Bitsy Bug, but they seem to share the "flimsy" problem with the Pacas. The claws go away quite often, LOL! FR |

After being out fished at my home stompin grounds a few months ago. I am a believer in Paca's. Just ordered a few bags from Ala lakes. I lose the pinchers also, but they usually hold up for a few fish. I think the crappie or pickerel are snipping them off.

Man the Paca's suck, don't buy them, they won't catch any bass, just mudfish rotflmao. I think they are way over rated, just don't waste your money on them LOL. JK Who knows I may fish against some of you one day, don't want every one to know my secrets. I'm with Locust except sometimes use the whole Baby Paca as a trailer. Lizards

Penthouse is still around? When I was a callow youth in Army Green and that mag had recently hit the stands I was...uhhh...shocked , disgusted , and nearly got trampled at the newsstand . It didn't help that half the guys in the tank company I was commanding were in the same line. "What are YOU doing here, Sir?!?!" "Er, um, just stopped by for a copy of Feel and Screa...I mean, Field and Stream and some pipe tobacco. Uhhhh, carry on, gentlemen." Are you saying that the amputee fetish is STILL the hot topic? Jeebus! I never could figure out why that was so popular and I deduced early on that all the "letters" were written by the same guy or a small stable of the same sickos. I did once date a young lady who'd lost a leg just above the knee (More motorcycle carnage) when she was in her late teens. She was pretty, nice, and lots of fun. The best part of dating her was her sense of humor. Well, there were other benefits, but the lack of one/half leg played no part. When we were introduced she said "I'm your dream girl!" I asked why that would be and she replied "No matter how mad I might get at you, I'll never kick your ***." I should have married her! We got along well but she had to move back to our native state to look after an ill family member. A very few years later she woke up dead one morning...at age 32; "natural causes"...whatever that might be. Buried in a small-town cemetery in Oklahoma. A few years later I made a detour on my way from San Antonio to Norman for a football game (OU stomped someone and I was there!) and found her grave. As I stood there I began to laugh. The young lady whom I'd lured into coming with me was shocked until I told her about the "never kick your ***" remark, then SHE laughed. Just occured to me...TWO GFs buried in Oklahoma...both died young... strange. Here's to you, Pamela and Leigh, you are ever in my heart. Maudlin Old FlyRod | ||
