| BassFishin.Com Super Veteran | Braided Line Knots

What are some recommended knots for braided line? I used it for Salmon fishing today. One salmon got away. Then I landed my first salmon and my biggest fish ever. It was 25 pounds 40 inches. Pretty fat. The braided line was a pain. later, Julien |

try a palomar with some knot glue or some super glue dabbed on the knot after you have tightened it up good.

come on 10 pound ande and a fly rod i will show you a pain to land.. stick with mono when dealing with a fish like salmon or trout as they are large powerful beast that love to peel line like ya hooked up to the short bus. braid is made for bass fishing i have never seen more than 300 yards of braid being sold anywhere.. but stren big game or ande come in massive spools that hold 2-3 thousand feet of mono for about the same price as the highly -imo- over rated braid line.. go ahead look at the igfa records ande a mono line holds more than any other company. just how many records does any braided line hold try this ZERO!!! zooker

Thanks. No, I meant it's a pain because i got some HORRIBLE backlash and it's harder to fix with braid.

				 | Braided Line

Braided line is great. you just have to familiarize yourself with the particulars. I fish mostly inshore salt for trout and reds on the texas coast but with the price of fuel have gone back to my roots as a bass fisherman. I have been using power pro braid now for 3 yrs and have nothing but great success. the keys are proper knots and a looser drag. I personally use 10# 2#Diam on my spinners and 30# 8#dia on my baitcasts. Tie on 20# Pline flouro leader with an improved albright knot to your braid . This is an excellent knot and moves freely through the eyes of your rod.Make sure to put several wraps of mono on your spool first and then the braid. This has been an excellent combo and have been catching some nice bass on the local lake that are extremely clear. We also use braid offshore. the increased line capacity cant be beat. Actually, it is not. get a small crochet needle or something along those lines and you can pick the backlash out a lot easier than with mono. Bad ones with mono usually require surgery, but you can pick it out with braid.

FR PS: Rebbasser is danged good with that crochet needle. He surprised me with some cute little crocheted "reel sox" the other day, and a warm sweater!...heh. Sometimes I worry about that boy. | |

I love my braid, plan to put some on my new baitcaster, when I get it, and see how it works. Either that or ande. I would think braid might be hardder to get out oif abacklash, but when your done, it wont keep the shape of the backlash it was in, like mono does!
