purple needs to be thinned out a bit to say a very light purple shadow on the bait not a massive line.. think after thought not fore thought.. like the blue though.. zooker

Yeah, the purple was a mistake, the color is strong, I didn't know it until I got started, too late then, it won't be that bold on the next batch. Gonna try a little different take on ti tomorrow, though

I green back is dead on, but ur right about the purple. I mix grape with pearl and it turns out pretty good. About 1/3 grape with 2/3 pearl. Don't forget about the black patch on the back of the gill plate.

I think those lures look great. Who knows, perhaps you might get some good results with the bait.

My intention is to learn to paint Bass (got that one down OK), Bluegill, Crappie, Striper, Perch (racoon, you never see that), blueback shad (got that one too), all colors (except the bass), that you almost never see! | |

crappie is definitely something thats not simulated quite enough, IMO. BTW, the second set of cranks looks really nice, how long you been doing the painting thing? |

Custom paint is fantastic for crankbaits. If you want a specific color pattern you can get them done. You'll be amazed at the number of forage species that bass have on tidal water. And many of these fish spawn in the fresh water over the summer. Here's a photo of some shad patterns that have been done for the Potomac river ! DP - Great job on the bluegill, make sure we get to see the finished product before they are all beat up by the bass! |
