				 | Time to get on my soapbox again

Can you say, SUNSCREEN!?!?!? As the weather warms-some places, anyway -and we head out to the lake, don't forget the sunscreen! I have a nice scar on my shoulder from a basal cell carcinoma being carved off, and trust me when I say smelling your own flesh burn isn't all too pleasant. And on a less dramatic scale it is a whole lot easier and more enjoyable to put on sunscreen that it is to suffer a bad sunburn, so wear sunscreen! P.S. Before you young guys chime in and say you don't need it keep in mind I thought the same thing when I was y'all's age. Time and a dermatologist's scalpel proved me wrong.

10-4 to Sunscreen, I keep a bottle of SPF 50 in my boat all the time, and I use it even during the winter! A lot of people forget the sun can get ya even when it's freezing out there!

I lead a pretty healthy lifestyle, but I have a couple of bad habits which include no sunscreen and no insect repellent. I'm not defending my actions or saying they're not needed, but all I can say is I'm knowingly taking a gamble and don't recommend others to do the same.

I wanna try that new Coppertone Sunscreen- the spray on kind that doesn't drip or run. It looks pretty good. Good idea that you don't have to put it on your hands, too! -Lunk-

Tell me about it as the nurse is sticking a needle full of anesthetic into the tip of your beak. Took 4 to freeze my nose...each surgery. Felt like she was holding a lit cigar to my face. On the otherr hand, pain fades, Glory last forever and chick dig scars. |

Reb, I'll get on that soap box with you and add a little. Please do physical exams at least once a month. And if you find something irregular, go see a doctor!!! I got testicular cancer at the age of 26. Luckily for me it got caught early. Still went through two surgeries and 9 weeks of chemo all in about 9 months. These days most things can be taken care of if they are caught early. Especially when it comes to different kinds of cancer.

Yep. The spray on Bullfrog is the best I've used. Never been burned when I apply it regularly.

A friend of ours Was diagnosed recently with prostate cancer after a physical he was made to take because he switched insurance companies. They also removed like 4 cancrous polyps from his colon. If he wouldn't have had the physical, they never would have caught the cancer. He's have surgury and is doing very well. The main reason I wear sunscreen is cause last summer I got burnt really bad and then in a couple of days I starting getting the chills and then a fever and I got really sick. The other reason is I hate getting sunburnt. BB

Lunker my best advice and I've asked my my doctor about this is to do a physical exam on yourself once a month. Hopefully you were taught how to do one in Jr. or Sr. High. If your testicles feel hard or swollen go see your doctor. It's not always an indicator for cancer. You may have a urinary tract infection or something else going on. Lower back pain can also be an indicator that something is going on. Another thing I would suggest is getting a physical done once a year. These days most insurance company's are covering them and some are even requiring them. My bigger point is that we all tend to try and be tough guys when it comes to our health. My philosophy has always been that I don't go to a doctor unless I'm dying. Thank God my wife doesn't subscribe to the same philosophy. If anything new pops up and lasts more than a couple of days go get it checked out.

A bounce sheet in your sock or hat will keep skeeters away. Come on down here sometime theyre the size of hummingbirds and they hate the citrus.
