Storing a drop shot rod.

How do you guys wrap and store a drop shot rod with the weight and hook on it???? Since the weight is below the hook, I don't know how to wrap the weight around the rod to carry it from the house to the boat without the weight flopping around. Do you understand my question? If not, I'll elaborate.

You could tape the line or sinker to the rod so it wont flop around and just take it off when you're ready to fish.

Twisty tie on the weight... cork or pencil eraser tipping the hook.

Use a strip of velcro. However, I prefer to remove the weight if I am done fishing. No matter how secure you make it, I don't like idea of the weight banging against the blank. Just my 2 cents.

Yup, best way to keep it from banging against the rod or reel is to put it on just before use, and take it off when your done with it. If you find tying to be a PITA, use a snap swivel. The drawback to that is, you will get hung up on things easier.

i use the twistie tie trick. keep several of them in the boat because they have a way of coming up missing.

The nice part about the Crucial Drop Shot rods is a wire hook at the butt of the handle that you simply hook the sinker behind. I leave a worm on the hook T-rigged to keep the point from being exposed.

You can acheive the same thing with some of the suggestions already mentioned in this thread (twisty, rubber band, store bought drop shot rod caddies), or you can actually epoxy a small wire sinker keeper on the butt of the rod like the Shimano Crucials.

Use a velcro cable tie. They are the perfect size right out of the box and very cheap. I found a pack of 10 at the dollar store. Let your drop shot weight down to almost the bottom of the rod and secure with the cable. Then your weight will not hit your blank. It works for me.

"Store" like in storing pre rigged for an extended period of time ....... I never do that, if it´s going to be stored then everything is taken appart, rod is stored in it´s sock and then into the rod tube, reel in it´s cover and then to it´s box.

If you mean keeping it pre rigged let´s say for tomorrow, then a velcro tie is enough.

Those velcro ties you use for cables to keep them away from tangling. You can find them in a any Home Depot or hardware store or in a Radio Shack, they come several to a pack, in various lengths and they are dirt cheap.
