				 | What are you throwing this weekend?

I was walking through the new Gander Mountain here in palm beach. Got to the fishing isle only to be brutally attacked by the bait monkey. The damage: 1 bag of suspending baby bass swimbaits 1 bag of peacock bass colored swimbaits a new Road Runner (mayan chilids and spec hit them well) 1 Peacock bass colored jointed rapala and a River2Sea Kong (got that online) Gonna be a fun weekend. Plan on anchoring in 9 feet casting into 22 feet. Vertical jigging a bit. Targeting largemouth and mayans first thing in the morning. Peacocks after 9am. Spec if they hit on accident. Gonna be videoing and taking pics. Trying to finish up a small peacock/largemouth vid......that is as long as the wind isnt too crazy. Heres a pic of my new toys:

I probably get about 6 hours of kayaking in on the weekend. Although last week I was out there for 12 hours. Unfortunately the pics are dependant on how well my buddy fishes. If he castnets some shad it will be insane. Ill definitley post them up. Buzz: The pics online dont do the Kong any justice. Looks WAY better in person. Was thinking of buying the LC Real California. Couldnt find any video of it, so I didnt buy it. River2Sea has a good marketing video, plus its the only plastic non-trout swimbait. The Kong has a good "S" action to it. All I needed to see to hit the "check out" button. Didnt like swimbaits much either. But, got a few 5 pounders in a row throwing a 6" storm and I was done. Been addicted to it ever since. Caught a 4.6lbs'er last week on a 9" storm. Swallowed it up to the eyes in a single bite.

You ever tried a 'Bondy Bait', JRL? The boys use 'em on the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair for big musky up here. It's a type of jigging swimabit with a spinner on the back. Pretty nice if you ask me... -Buzz |

Thats funny, because Storm just came out with a bait exactly like that. I picked it up to buy it, but, at that point I was feeling like the bait was catching me way better than it might catch fish. So I put it back. Ill have to try them.

Yeah, Storm copied it after John Bondy, (I blieve thats his name), invented it to jig for musky on the current of the Detroit River. I personally think this bait would kill for deep, schoolie-bass, or bass that are heavy-hittin' on shad or shiners. -Buzz |

Most people on here have probably seen Unforgiven, dumbass. Its a classic. You don't have to watch movies 23 hours a day, or watch rare or obscure movies to get the reference. You talk a good game and know next to nothing. Youa re just like the schofield kid in that movie. I do recommend you rent it. Now run along puke.

Well dammit, I did see the movie and I am totally clueless to the reference. So now I not only have to learn how to fish but become a movie buff to keep up with you guys?!?! Kidding! I am packing up all three of my sons today and we are heading out to the pond. They are 15, 9 and 7....wish me luck! I will need it. I have a plethora of new lures to try out thanks to reading this board, the baitmonkey gets us all I guess.

As for the reference, this may help Doug. http://www.bassfishin.com/bassfishin...ad.php?t=14841 I'm not a big fan of Swimbaits either, but after watching TV this morning, I may give some a try. They were fishing YUM's Money Minnow. I think some 4-5" swimbaits may work on some of the bigger reservoirs we fish. BB BB

Oooohhhh Swimbaits............... For some of the storms just watch that bottom treble hook. It can be a snaggy bait. That Kong is a great bait(just hope you have the right set-up to toss it all day. Swimbaits arent a numbers bait. Dont go out expecting to get alot of fish BUT the quality will go up! Dont get discouraged if you dont get bit. It will happen and it will be a better fish. A wise man once said "Nuff Said" |

As for the Kong. Got 10 hits this morning in less than 10 casts. The same fish hit it 3 times on the same retrieve. Finally hooked her, probably broke 5 pounds but she came off before I got her to the boat. Had several boils on the surface also. My review so far: -The plastic fins are worthless. I tore them all off and it still swims perfect. - The action is UNREAL! Slow or fast it has a nice clean "S". A small tug on the line will get it to do a 180 with ease. - Getting it to "wake" on the surface is a little rough, but, its personally not my style anyway. Only reason its a problem is that you have to reel the line in fast, too fast in my opinion. All my hits came on an extremely slow retrieve.

I forgot to take the camera, the wife always gets mad because I never take it and she wants pics of us. I personally think she wants visual proof to show the psychiatrist when I go mental. I love my boys and I will always spend the time with them and take them fishing, but it can be the most frustrating thing you have ever done in your life because they have the attention spans of squirrels most of the time! =-)~ I got a few quality bites today but couldn't seal the deal, the new pond we tried was pretty weedy so I went with the worms and a texas rig. The only catch of the day was by the teenager. I spend all this money on new fangled lures and scented baits, rattle traps...etc. and the teenager digs out this 25 cent piece of crap minnow out of the bottom of the tackle box and brings in a 12" bass while the rest of us are praying for a bite. GO FIGURE!?

Yeah. It won best picture in 93, directed by Clint Eastwood and it also has Gene Hackman, Morgan Freeman and Richard Harris. Its one of the very best westerns ever made.
