				 | Lures: Overpriced dog vs. undervalued gem

What lure with the big price tag that continues to disappoint? Versus What lure or brand of lures has you thinkin' this is the best Bass catching magnet for the money I've ever used?

I haven't spent that much on a lure... but when I was younger and more naive, I bought those walking worm things for like 15 bucks... never worked. As for the bass catching magnet- Bill Lewis Rattltraps

Well, I have spent the money on some of th ehigher end lures. I will say that the only one that disappointed me was the lucky craft swim bait. When it comes to swim baits, I think it is all about managing expectations. Swimbaits are great, but fish won't jump into the boat to get it. SuperMat said it best when he said that he fishes swimbaits hoping for 7 bites. On best baits for the buck, the bomber cranks found in the walmart isle are the best for their price that I know of.

Man have I ever caught a lot of bass on walmart special $1 spinnerbaits. The newer ones arent as good as the older ones though. I really cant give a good example of a lure that I have bought that is an expensive bust cause I tend to avoid risky purchases - not to mention the fact that I am such an amazing fishermen I never get skunked on anything.

Ok... I must've missed something. anyways, I've never really payed a lot for a lure and been dissappointed in it, but one lures that's not even worth the price is the YUM dancin' eel. As for a lure I'd pay twice as much as it costs now to have is Bandit crankbaits. Especially the 100 series in bluegill. I wouldn't like paying 10 bucks for one, but I would. Although I think one of the things that makes bandits so great is they're affordable price tag. BB

I have spent the money on a couple Lucky Craft baits, but i have just as much confidence in Bandits, Strike Kings, and Rapalas, and alot of time i can buy 2, 3, or even 4 of those lower priced baits for the price of 1 lucky craft... imho they are not worth the extra money... it is all a matter of opinion. Bama, I agree with you on Zoom baits. I have never heard a negative thing about their lures or the Company. Ok tell me, is the new Magnum Finesse worm having a little identity crisis. I mean you're either a small subtle finesse lure or you're built for bear, Magnum. I grew up huntin' and when a bullet said [B]Magnum[B] there was nothin finesse about that shotgun shell! That thing kicked!

Sounds a bit oxymoronic. ya know, like "Jumbo Shrimp". Or "Sweet and Sour Sauce" Or my personal favorite "Common Sense" the sad part is, you all know it's true. BB

Any lure you have that doesn´t touch the water or has never produced is overpriced regardless of the price tag. Any lure that sees action and catches fish on a regular basis is underpriced regardless of the price tag. |

I've never spent much on anything, but I've washed out on any swimbait I've ever tried... best bang for the buck - cheap Gander mountain spinnerbaits, catch fish and don't care what happens to them!

Those berkley baits, I don't remember what they were called, but they were like half spoon, half grub were my biggest bomb. On the flip side I would pay a lot more for original culprit worms.

LC pointer. Though it was on sale for 1/4 off. Bought a Matt's bluegill but haven't tried it out too much yet. Best bang for me are the Horny Toads.
