Default Anyone else use the gripper

Called the lipper to. I use it all the time. I think it's better then a net, won't harm the fish if you want to release it. It, also great to find out how heavy it is with the scale.
Never go back to the net!

We use one to weigh the fish if they're big enough to weigh, and we use it for Musky. But we just lip bass.

We use a plastic gripper to boat Pickerel. I've never used one to boat a Bass, opting for a rubber net for fish with treble hooks in their mouths.

If you use one don't make the same mistake I did once. I didn't put the lanyard around my wrist and gripped a 28 lb stripper . THe fish started thrashing around and my wet hands let the gripper slip the poor fish still had it gripping his lower jaw. Always felt bad about that and never used one again.
