Sexy shad color does work and is just another tool for the arsenal. There are times and places where sexy shad colored lures produce well and other times and places where other colors seem to do a better job. One bait I have found that works very well just about anywhere I have gone on the East coast is the Red eye shad in both the 1/2 oz and the 3/4 oz size in the Chartreuse Sexy Shad color. Have had good luck in clear to stained water with this bait and color.
