			The size of the lake really doesn't matter-it is the size of the bait.  I use a 1/0 for something like a finesse or trick worm and move up from there, all the way to a 5/0 for something like a Horny Toad.

			Agree with Reb; it's the bait size, not the size of the body of water. My general rule is to use a hook with a gap at least double the diameter of the soft plastic. This will allow room for the hook to get through the plastic and into the fish's jaw past the barb.

			i never use shanks,i always use wide gaps,i also use one size bigger than what is reccomended

			If you got big bass and you are fishing heavy cover use a heavier hook and a bigger one. If you are fishing more open water use more of a light wire worm hook. A good hook in my opinion are the Bass pro wide gaps in red. Not too bad for 4 dollars for 30. Mustad use to have at my bass pro some worm hooks for like 50 for 4 bucks and they worked fine. What ever you have confidence in.
