Had a cracked lense on a new depth finder and I send it back to the co. that made it. They sent me a new one w/a new chip.
1. The new chip isn't quite as good as the one that I previosly had. (no big deal) 2.This depth finder won't show the actuall footage once the boat gets up to appx. 30 mph. The bottum feature disappears as well. Could this "new" depth finder be a rebuilt one vs. a new one ?

Well it really sounds to me like the transducer isnt where it needs to be.Most likely it is not "staying wet" at the higher speeds due to the fact that part of the transom or hull is not in the water. Try getting the trans as close to the center of the hull that is practable. As far as "the chip" if the unit is the same model there should be no difference at all. What model are you talking about??

595c.
The transducer is in the hule. Works well with a "Wide version" but not as good with the "new" depth sounder. (the one that they sent me). The origional 595c worked just fine. I may just try and readjust the unit and see what I can get. (for the 15th time)
