Some of you might know this, but I've been talking to Gerald Swindle for the past year online. He is a pretty cool guy and wanted to meet up down at the Potomac on Saturday. I got to hang with G-man and the guys in the back area and it was a cool time. Folks like Denny Brauer can say what they want about Ike being a "disgrace" to the sport, but let me tell you this. Ike was hanging out in the crowd amongst his fans and was out there for hours, shooting the breeze. He is really a great guy. Meanwhile some guys were waiting on Mr. Brauer to come sign some autographs and he snubbed them. Then went and got in his truck and drove off while a bunch of little kids were right there beside him and his boat. If you ask me, Denny could really take some pionters from some of his peers.

when it comes down to it..fisherman are the most relatable athletes. They are everyday dudes just like the rest of us...just a good old fisherman, the only problem is they're so darn smart.

How come Denny Brauer being stuck up isn't a suprise to me?... you can practically look at the guy and tell he thinks he's better than everyone else.

I've fished with pro's in a couple tournaments and you get a mixed bag. Some are great to fish with, are a lot of fun and really want you to do well. Others are all about themselves. You take your chances when you sign up as a co-angler. Even if you get a "bad" partner try to learn as much as you can while on the water. They might teach you something. Even if it is that you never want to fish with them again.

3dkicker, I know what you mean. I thought I got lucky a few years back and got partner'd up with a fellow Okie, Edwin Evers, he is a great angler, but man is he quiet. I like to chat a little while I'm on the water. Not, non-stop yacking, but a little friendly conversation ya know. He was surely tight lipped. (Maybe because I had two keepers in the boat before he got his first bite

Just a comment on Denny. I have met him and on a bad tournament day no less. (He had just lost his lower unit) He was very professional and friendly. I guess Pro anglers are not much different than the rest of us. We all have good days and bad days. I would rather they just be who they are and not fake a good day, or any other kind of day, just to make the 'fans' happy.
