Default what the heck is wrong with it?

I consider myself a decent reel mechanic, but i recently had a shimano citica start "squeeling" when i cast it. I know it's in the braking system and i have fixed this problem on other citicas, but for some reason this one is being stubborn. What's up?

PnJ and others can be better on specifics, but just as a note...baitcasters can sometimes be pretty touchy about things like that. I fiddled with a reel just the other night for 45 minutes straight, couldn't get the anti-reverse clutch to kick in when it was assembled...only to find the slightest bit of pressure being excerted by a spring was causing the problem. 45 minutes of my time...and it was something that dumb. It happens.

Hope this serves to bump your subject up...and maybe someone will chime in with specifics.

Mont, take a Qtip and apply a small amount of car wax to the ring the centrifugal weights ride on. Make sure all of the residue is removed as not to add any additional problems.I would have guessed a dry bearing making the squealing noise, I flushed the bearings on a reel once, didn't relube a bearing, it took me a bit to figure out I missed the bearing . Dear Mont,

Don't despair! If yew cain't get thet thar reel to stop that infernal squealin' just toss it in yer huntin' gear. Y'see, a squealin' reel makes a right dandy varmint call. Best of all, yew can use it without havin' to blow in it. Thet way, them pesky "cold sores" yew've been plagued by since yer trip to Lil' Rawk kin heal up faster.
Just crank that rascal fast-like and it'll make the local ky-yoties think thet thar's an injured wombat nearby that'd make a dandy Christmas dinner. Ol' Wile E. will come slinkin' in, all a-droolin' and tying his napkin round his scrawny neck and...POW! Yew'll have 'nuther hide toward thet thar fur coat that momma's been a-hankerin' fer.
Ah suggest a little somethin' extry, sort of a stockin' stuffer, to go with the coat...
