| BassFishin.Com Super Veteran | First Fish on Fly!

Well, i have been trying for about a week now, and after much frustration i have finally got the hang of the fly rod, and actually caught my first fish, a chunky bass! I was using a muddler minnow. This is actually my 2nd most memorable bass! I will post my other report of todays other bass soon. PS: Chris, the leader worked fine, thanks for the help. |

Good for you. The fly rod will teach you patience and devotion to presentation.

Very nice! Try fishing a popper. If you think topwater fishing is fun, try topwater+ fly......

Congrats! I've caught numerous bass on fly tackle over the centuries, but my first will forever be fresh in my memory. Summer, 1957, small lake somewhere at Fort Polk LA. A 13 year old makes cast with a popping bug, pops it once...twice...and BOOM! Well, more like a "Bloop". The bass was no more than 12 inches long, but he was a monster to me. Years later, when I caught my personal best, an 8-4, on a fly rod, that first fly rod bass appeared to me and signalled "Well done, and thanks for releasing me way back when." FR |

FlyRod, I was under the impression that you were a clean-cut, honest, type of guy. Never figured you the type to be dropping acid and then having flashbacks...
