				 | Snow Lobster

We've had some crazy weather here in Virginia this past week. We had temps in the 70's and 80's and then within 24 hours it snowed 4". This little guy was found caught/found by my sister's cat in the yard after it snowed . My nephew, who is 3 yrs old, gave it the name. The only standing water near the house is 1/8th of a mile away but there is a ditch along the road in the backyard. This "lobster" was a long way from home . |

That would be a crayfish. Or a crawdad, crawfish, mud bug, pond lobster or a multitude of other things. And if you cook em good, they taste real good.

You need a good 40 or 50. You can either trap or net 'em, and catch a bunch.

Anybody got a pnj that matches this mud bugs color????? It's not black and blue or green pumpkin. Just an ugly brown and light brown or tan. Maybe a little orange/red in one of the claws. I found a spotted salamander a couple weeks ago while walking across the parking lot on my way to work. Very strange place to find one. Again no big water source in the immediate area although it had rained the night before. Another strange aspect to this story is the fact that co-worker was out early that morning hunting for them - 3 AM to 5 AM . He's part of a group that creates habitat for the salamanders. They catch them to transplant them to these habitats so they can reproduce . Last edited by 3dkicker; 03-20-07 at 11:10 PM. |
