Good choice, Marinero,
While I use a lot of ZOOM U-Tail worms, especially the 6" version, I prefer the 7" PowerBait worm when I want to fish a "standard-sized" worm in Red Shad. I have even semi-perfected a means of installing a tiny glass rattle in them. I carry a few in Watermelon and Green Pumpkin as well, in addition to the U'Tails in those colors, for when I want a bit more visible worm in those colors. The 4" PowerBait curly-tails are a killer, especially in Red Shad, and in the Spring in clearish water. Sad to say, they are pretty fragile and Berkley has not been able to achieve consistency in pouring them so that they are true Red Shad, some worms labeled Red Shad being mostly or all blackish or red outta the package. I used to buy the 4" in 100-packs and cherry-pick the "good" ones, maybe getting 60 that satisfied me out of each batch. The larger ones have fewer issues in that regard. I prefer to fish the 4" on a #2 (NOT 2/0) Gamakatsu G-Lock hook with a 1/16th oz. tungsten weight...pegged, or with the weight sliding free and a small glass bead rubber-pegged at the hook. It might be wise to obtain some of the PowerBait liquid scent. Since it usually comes in rather large bottles, I recommend you leave the original bottle at home and carry some in a much smaller and VERY sealable container. Always shake vigorously before use and DO NOT SPILL THIS STUFF IN THE BOAT OR TACKLE BAG! Yukko! I use the stuff on other-than-Berkley softies on occasion. Good luck and be safe! L6 |

I use all the berkley power bait worms. The 7 to 10 inch. They are durable enough and the built in scent is a plus.
One little tip. Dont take an open pack in the house. Several years ago I had been night fishing with the red shad power worms. I had put a previously opened package in my jacket pocket then laid them in a big basket on my dresser when I came in. A couple of days later my wife told me to change the Cats Box, I changed it but I also notice a bad odor in the bed room. She again ask me why didnt I change the cats box. I told her I did. She then decided that the cat had done its bussiness somewhere in the bed room and she had not found it. To make a long story short the culprit was the scent of the power worms. They stay in the shed now. They do catch big fish and good numbers of them. Fish2win

i love powerbait. i use the craws, tubes, 7" powerworms,, 10" powerworms, shakey worms, lizzards, ect. i am a strong believer in the scent. the powerbait will not dry out like gulp does.

I too like the Powerbait worms. I have the Shakey Head worms as well as the 10" worms. I slay them in the rivers here with the 4" curl tail worms in green pumpkin/blue as well as blue fleck. I like the 7" red shad worms as well but will pinch an inch or so off in the river. Great worms for sure. BTW... I'm not a Gulp fan either.
