I am able to get me a new rod. (wife dont know)

![]() Anyway, I have been offered a Kistler LTA 7ft. MH/Fast casting rod for 150.00 or I am going to get a Crucial spinning rod. I plan on using this rod as my all purpose rod, everything from Trigs to Senkos, to flukes. Any thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions?

I have never used the Crucial but have the exact same Kistler. If you don't buy the Kistler let me know I'd love to have another one. I have 5 or 6 different brands of rods and the Kistler is my favorite. If it isn't abused that is a great price.

Sorry Fishbear, there is only one solution... You have to get both. That is the only way to temporarily satiate your bait monkey.

I am probably going with the Kistler rod. I am just wondering about casting light weight plastics and stuff with it.

I wish I could afford both, it would be awesome, but am on a limited budget. ![]()

go with which ever one feels more comfortable to you. rods that one guy will love another guy may hate (although both are great brands) and you will be the one using this rod so make sure YOU are comfortable with it.

That is a good price on the Kistler - as long as it isn't one of the "repaired" ones you see on Ebay all the time. I fish Kistler exclusively, and the LTA is my preferred rod. The 7' MH is a good choice for an all-around rod. Good for weigthless (5") Senko, t-rig, light jigs, traps in grass, even a 1/2 oz spinnerbait or tube. Be careful - once you fish a Kistler, your other rods won't get much use.

It is not a repaired rod. I know the guy, he is a UGA student, needing some money. I already have one Kistler, it is the Mag. Heavy Cover Fish Snatcher, and it is my jig and Crig rod. I love it for weight, balance, and sensitivity.

I will most likely buy the Kistler, just not sure about baitcasting light lures, like split shots or weightless worms.

This rod will not be suited to senkos, flukes, etc., unless it has a VERY fast tip. What you are describing is a rod best suited to fishing T-rigged worms, jigs, and (maybe) long-cast spinnerbaits. Don't buy a rod because it's a "great buy". Buy it because it meets a specific application. Lancer6 |

I had the same qualms about this rod, but the guy says the fast tip is actually an Xfast tip. I look at this way, there is no way I can lose on it. It is a Kistler rod, and I can always go get a Crucial later if it doesnt work like I want it to. Plus, I will have a kick butt rod for other applications.

In that case, get the crucial, if only to see if the grass is greener on the other side.

			Fishbear, here is my 2 cents . . .

If you want a great rod for throwing weightless soft plastics and Senkos, get a Kistler Magnesium "Senko Special". You won't be disappointed. This is bar none one of the best "application rods" that I have ever used. You can buy one brand new for $179.00. Although I generally don't see the point to spending a lot on rods, with soft plastics, I think a better, i.e., more sensitive rod can make a big difference. You will feel everything with this rod and will even know when a tiny baitfish "ticks" the tip of your worm. |

After all the banter, I got my rod AND reel today. I ended up going with a G blanks custom rod and a Abu Black max. Both in Black and Red!!!!! I found this combo that had NEVER had any line even spooled on the reel from a guy and snatched it up.

Rod is a Med. with fast tip 6'10" oh, and I got the black and red reel handle rubber things, that also match the whole package..... All for 150.00 shipped. ![]() ![]() Can not wait to go fishing this weekend!!!!!!!

This G Blank rod is the bomb!!!!!! I spooled the Black Max reel with 6 lb. Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultra soft. Has a 12 lb. breaking point. Tied on a 4/0 hook and then put a trick worm on and started fishing. I was casting about 35-40 yds weightless with a brisk wind blowing, from the outer bands of Fay reaching N. Georgia. I only caught a couple of dinks, but I was more interested in how the rod and reel would handle and it worked for what I wanted, Casting light weights, even with a wind. I am sure if I used a 1/8 oz. split shot or Mojo weight, it will do even better. I may have to retire my spinning rods.
