DON"T DO IT!! Why would you want the water clear??? That just makes fishing hard imo, you want at least 6-10 foot vis level.

right now half the pond is at no visibilty level and every bait you throw in, especially spinnerbaits, get covered with slime...its becoming a big problem....

Sounds like algea. Too much can cause a massive fish kill. Theres a big difference between a healthy green tint and complete sludge

definitely sounds like algae issues...check with your state/local fish & wildlfie and see what they recommend bassboss, yes clear water is more difficult to catch fish in, however most of the time clear water is cleaner and has higher O2 levels which all fish need to survive...Bass might hang out in cloudy, dirty water, but clean water is usually not too far away....it's like the equivalent of breathing smog all day

Whatever you do, do not add to many chemicals... i still believed what happened in my town last year was chemical related. http://www.bassfishin.com/bassfishin...reat+reservoir Ryan

I'd call your county extention agent for advise, or as Jason mentioned, stop by a DNR office. I'm wondering if maybe there was a runnoff from heavy rains that washed lawn fertilizers into the water.

Be careful with grass carp. Not saying its a bad idea, but they can be destructive. Better do the neutering with a pair of vise grips yourself so you know its done right. If the lake is new, sometimes it takes it a while to develope an ecological balance. The same thing can happen in aquariums.
