Getting skunked?

How do you all define getting skunked?

A.) catching shorts but no keepers.
b.) not catching any bass, but catching other speacies.
C.) not catching any fish at all.

I usually say it is not catching anything, but the definition changes in tourney's. Then I define not weighing any fish a skunk.

Many days have been saved before by a 5" bass on the last few casts. Anytime I go fishing, its to catch fish. If I dont catch fish, its a failure. If I do, well, I caught them...even if they were small.

When I go fishing, I'm trying to catch fish. Yes, I'm specifically targeting bass, but I'm after "fish." So if I catch a "fish," I'm good to go. Usually, anything that's not a bass becomes dinner later on, so it's really a win-win situation.

Now that I think about it, a lot of the bass I catch become dinner, too. Win-win-win situation?

seriously, i don't care if i get skunked or not. but to answer your question, skunked is not getting a fish, period.

so here latley i can honestly say that i haven't gotten skunked. the reason? i AIN'T BEEN ABLE TO GO FISHING! dang it!

Me and my older two sons - we just gotta love it when my 8-year-old son skunks us all. For him, that constitutes the catching or capture of any aquatic animal with fins.

I've always concidered skunked as not catching any fish. Since I normally fish alone I can safely say I've only been skunked once as that is the only time there was a witnesses to prove otherwise. But then I can always bribe my daughter into keeping quiet, so nope, never been skunked.

I'm a Rec fisherman, so getting skunked to me means not catching a LM, SM, Pickerel, or Rock Bass. Sunnies don't count.

I make the decision of what I want to catch before I leave (usually bass). So, even if I get a huge fish of a different species, I keep trying for my target fish. If I don't get one I feel like I was skunked.

I agree with the way you determine, ummmm, skunkedness.
I was skunked this afternoon by anyone's definition. Unless 1 strike denies the skunk lol

Whenever I catch a skunk but no fish, I then become "aardvarked." Maybe that's just me, I dunno....
