Thumbs up My home lake, Sunday 10/4

Had a really good outing yesterday afternoon on my home lake in Ohio. I fished from 2-6 and was able to catch 7 largemouth, 4 dinks and 3 good keepers. The surface temperature has dropped to 62 and I think the transitional pattern is all but done, most of the fish have entered a full fall pattern.

I found all 7 fish up shallow, in about 3-4 FOW or less, around rock or timber. My lures of choice for the day were a white buzzbait, white spinnerbait with gold, tandem colorado blades, and a watermelon 3/8 oz. football jig with a watermelon candy Sweat Beaver trailer. The biggest weighed in at 4 lbs. She ate the spinnerbait at the edge of a submerged tree, after I bounced it off a few limbs. Definitely didn't like that she'd been hooked and gave some great jumps before I could get her into the boat! The last pic is the biggun, not a PB but still a good, healthy looking fish.

Sorry if the quality is poor, all I had was my phone.

Yep, we've had good weather here, too. Yesterday was perfect fishing conditions. It was about 65 degrees, cloudy with patches of sunshine here and there and a light wind. I was hoping to have some success with the Rage Shad yesterday, but they just weren't biting it. Maybe something to do with the flash of the buzzbait blade? I don't know.....anyway it was good to get out and catch some fish. That broke a 2 week dry spell for me.

Lol, keep fishing Bassboss! It's not always bout the catch, enjoy those moments on the water that only us fisherman can appreciate.

Nice haul there Rod. You can't beat a spinnerbait for fall fishin. Looks like you have some beautiful water to fish there. Looks like a lot of fun for sure!

The lake is nice for sure. It's not very big but it's private so the fish don't get pounded with boat traffic and tons of anglers like others do. It's called Shawnee Lake located in southwest Ohio just outside of Jamestown. I've lived in the area my whole life and just recently bought a house with my wife about 5 min. from the lake, so I'm really itchin to buy a bass boat and do some serious fishin. The lake will drop to winter pool here in a couple weeks, so a boat will have to wait until next year. I'll take some pics of lake scenery and post later...
