				 | Over-the-sholder tackle bag?

Looking for a nice small tackle bag I can toss over my shoulder when I'm wading. I don't care the brand, just so it'll fit 2-4 3600 - 3700 size utility boxes in. It'll be nice if it's got some mesh pockets for a water bottle, and a pocket on either side for a smaller box for hooks or what ever. Any info's appreciated. I just use a typical backpack you can buy at walmart. fill it with boxes of your favorite baits and away you go. having 2 straps instead of 1 is just more secure. mine is a ducks unlimited bag with a handle and rollers!

I use that when I'm shore fishing, but the problem with that is that if I wanna change lures I've gotta take it off and set it down on the ground. And don't get me wrong, I love 'em for banging the back. But wading is a different story. IMO I'd be easier to just swing out the shoulder pack around to my front to go from their. I like the shoulder pack thing better then a vest or backpack cause it's less bulky then a back pack, and you can hold more stuff then in a vest.

I use a creel when I'm wading. It's basically just a canvas bag with a vinyl liner inside. It's supposed to be used for carrying fish, but it works great for tackle. The one I use came from Dick's.

When wading or tubing, I use a fly fishing vest. I did go to a higher end vest for more space, but I feel that it beats having any bag over my shoulder. A lesson I learned after dumping the bag once or twice. The one I have runs about $130, I got it for less, but there are much cheaper options that should fit your needs. http://www.basspro.com/Fishpond-Sage...00412/-1662089 On the rare occasions where I feel that I need more gear then the vest can carry, I will use a small cooler that I bought from walmart as a shoulder bag. My boxes fit perfectly and it seals up well.

Shimano Blackmoon backpack: Forget about carrying more than 2 3600/3700 boxes on your back, after you are through filling the boxes and the bag compartments with stuff with 2 it´s going to be pretty darn heavy. |

I just saw a guy on a tv flyfishing show wearing what looked like a small back pack only it hung on his chest. It may be too small for what you're looking for but I thought it was kinda interesting/different.

http://www.foreverlast.com/storeset/simplestore.html I use their over the shouldre box. It has forced me to simplify my lure choices which has helped a lot. |

This one comes in various sizes and colors and allows easy access from the front, unlike a backpack or shoulder bag. |

I've found that if i'm wading its really better to have a few baits to take with you and not the whole arsenal. I've tried the bag thing and just found it cumbersome or if im going through a chest deep spot, too much flotation. usually i just put everything in a vest or a ziploc bag, and only take what I know will catch fish. Having a pack for me is just something else to carry on long wading trips and another something to get caught in a low hanging branch. Not to mention I do just about 100% of my wading upstream so any drag while chest deep in moving water could push you over.

Why not a fly fishing vest? They come in many different configfurations and have loads of pockets and storage space.

I gave dragging the whole thing around a long time ago TN! I'd just bring 2 small boxes in the bag. 5 or 6 cranks/minnows, 3 or 4 topwaters, a box with jigs and hooks, and a mesh pocket or two for bags of plastics. I'd switch stuff around from my big BPS tackle bag. Doc, I don't like the vest cause, one, they're expensive, and two, they're hot. But Mainly cause of price. I've been looking at this one from smallmouth angler.com. It's 30 bucks, but comes with one fitting box. That, or it'll probably be the gear belt from plano (the $30.00 one). It'll really depend on which I can get higher up on my back. Thanks for the answers so far guys! |

If you're wading at least knee deep, how hot the vest is won't matter. I found this at BPS on clearance and it doesn't seem too expensive and should suffice for all your tackle needs. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...SSSELL_PRODUCT 4.8/5.0 stars

I think a vest would probably be the best bet. Wading and carrying a bad is a huge PITA. Anything that you have to think about is going to hinder you when wading. And remember, it's not Florida, it doesn't get 110 degrees with 100% humidity in Wisconsin, lol. BB

Found this on Ebay. Thought it was perfect for what you want. Hold a few boxes. Item ends soon though. Maybe the seller will relist it. http://cgi.ebay.com/TACKLE-BAG-SOFT-...item45f90db1a9 |

I recommend FishPond i have this right here alittle Price but it fits great and can hold alot of gear. I like the front chest pack because it has a fold down tray which makes it easy to manage my Flies. When i am not using my waders i use the front pack as a place to store all my stuff camera,Keys,The adapter to my trailer god knows i had to buy 4 of those things last year. They always seem to walk away. Fits great on the pole under my seat in my tracker.http://www.fishwest.net/Merchant2/me...e_Code=flyshop
