Well guys this year in N.E. Ohio has been pretty good to me so far and I want to try to keep it going so I'll take some advice. Right now at my home lake its spawn maybe towards the end of it and Im looking for advise for that post spawn bite. My lake is an old strip mine so its very deep, some flats, a couple points but theres no vegetation. Theres boat docks, more deep water and a creek that runs in and out. Any suggestions. What would you do? Thanks fellows.

Find the bream beds! Fish the deeper side of them with a similar sized swimbait. Spro BBZ-1 has produced well for me! Chuck it out, count it down, and just wind it in real slow. Bass'll crush it!

deep water? jigging time if it was me. fish the inlet and outlets too. if shallow enough, buzzbaits, pop-r's, spooks and spinnerbaits.

here is something keithdog asked about our lack of catching at wheeler lake....try to "jig" a rattle trap in the deep water. spoons work good too.

Now this may sound odd but I recently read an article about a guy who was catching bass on a Zara Spook under conditions like you are describing. You might give that a try.

Most strip mines are very deep andbecause they don't have current, they don't have oxygen in the deep water. A real good sonar will show you the level that baitfish hold at, the bass won't be much deeper than that. Strip pits and also most any type of excavated quarry lakes will have 45 degree angles on most of the banks. Fish may hold close to the bank at the prefered depth, but unless there is cover, many will just suspend. Obviously, if you can find any lay down trees. fish those hard and fish them as deep as they go. Some bass will use any cover they can find. If you can find any areas where they didn't go as deep with the excavation or where they left a truck entrance into the pit, fish those hard. A truck entrance will act like a point for migration.
