Today I had a meat hunting trip. The guys from my last meat hunting trip are brothers with the guys from today. They took home two coolers of blue and white cats so full the tops would not close. We dodged the wind in a back cove and got a nice cat to boot.

I guess pictures like this are why you make the bucks guiding. Let me ask this though. I see people handling big cats and hand grabbing. Are the barbs on the fins not as bad when they are a couple of pounds. I remember getting finned and it taking months before the swelling went away. If we are keeping cats from the pond, I snip the fins because my kids just waller on them and I am afraid they will get finned.
Looks like someone already snipped the top fin on that blue.

The ones over 20lbs have barbs that are not very sharp. A 12 lb got me good yesterday and went right thru my hand. It hurt some kinda bad. Bleed it real good to get the slime out of the hole. Then I took some of the slime and covered the wound. It really helps heal it quick. Got home and scrubbed up and neosporin it and bandage.
The small ones are very sharp and have a serated edge on then that if rubbed will cut you bad. The small ones are the worst to handle. Capt Mike
