I bought one of these reels this past spring and I can honestly say I LOVE THIS REEL!!! Now I will be the first to admit that I am now where near as knowlegable about the strengths and weaknesses of a reel when compared to Proreel and Cranky and the others, but I have nothing but possitive to say about this reel. Worked mine hard, and it caught plenty of fish. I bought the 7:1 ratio and it burns nice when needed. Casts very smooth and I never once had a backlash all year. It was my main reel for buzzbaits, fluke style baits and a few other baits. I probably had my hands on this reel 30% of the time this year and it performed flawlessly.

How's it perform compared to the PQ keith? I've got a JML (limited edition gold reel), and it worked very nice at first, but I can't get it smooth anymore.. granted I don't use the best grease and oil money can buy, but still. So I'm sort of hesitant to get another JM reel. I know the PQ is one of the more tried a true baitcasters out there, and greatly talked about by Pro Reel. Just wondering how they compare in your experiences (you gotta PQ right? lol).

btw, great price Scott! Hope that sale stays goin for a while!

Actually I have 2 PQ's and they are awsome reels as you say. As far as comparing them to the Carbon Black, I'd say they are both very smooth good casting reels. I havn't had any issues with either one. When I bought the CB I was looking for a high speed reel 7:1 ratio, 31" IPT and with a good strong drag since I was going to be working baits like buzz baits over heavy weedbeds. The drag rating for the CB is 14 pounds compared to 10 pounds for the PQ. So based on that info, plus the fact I got a heck of a deal on it, I chose the CB for my buzzbait combo. I felt I could utilize heavier line in heavier cover with a stronger drag with the CB.
