Baits are tools, neither is better all of the time, you have to use the correct tool for the job. Good colors to start with in spinnerbaits is chartreuse and white, but there is as many colors and blade combos as there are stars in the sky. Plastic covers a very wide range, but colors that work well in most areas are watermelon, pumpkin, blue/black and about everything else under the sun. I would love to give you some real good info on your question, but need more details on what you are actually trying to do.

Welcome home, Fisherkid! Tavery5 is right. In actualality they are used almost for opposite situations. Spinners when reaction bite is heavy, plastics when not. Remember though, anything CAN produce anytime and under adverse ideal conditions. And plastics, theres probably a plastic made from someone that does the same as a hard bait. Ex: Sebile hard and soft swimbaits.

Welcome to the forum! Tav hit it-they are tools for different "jobs" just like a hammer or drill. As to which one to use-it is really a matter of trial and error. Throw 'em and let the fish tell you what to use/

Welcome, Both, the different baits we use to catch bass as has been stated are tools. generally broken down into broad categories. 1.)Topwater 2.)crankbaits 3.)spinnerbaits 4.) jigs 5.)softplastics then each category has several sub-categories. There is a lot to learn, and it's a never ending process. Have fun with it and don't get too caught up with "what is best" because that is always going to be relative to a situation, or subjective to the individuals prefrence. Good luck.

There is no one perfect lure, and one isn't necessarily better than another. It is just certain conditions that one lure is often better than another in. Soft plastics are my personal favorites and I use them a lot of the time, but they are normally better in clearer water and when the fish aren't very active. Spinnerbaits are good for active bass in muddier/ and or windier water.
