Small pond, big fish?

I live in New Jersey where the ponds are small enough and shallow enough to walk across. I fish in this college, with a small pond. The pond cant be bigger then 2 or so acres. There is some how at least 2 6lbers and have seen an 8lber. I am not exaggerating on this at all. Me and a few buddies fish this pond pretty regularly so we all keep in touch on the latest catches. Now i am stumped how can a pond so small hold such large fish? It is also fairly shallow deepest is about 5-8 feet. Whats your opinion?

I have a pond down the street about the same but more like a 1/2 an acre.
I've been fishing it for a few years now, always pulling pretty big fish out, never smaller then 2lb's. They drained most of it last summer, I dont know why... May be to clean, it, I thought they may have moved the fish, went there 2 weeks ago didnt get anything at the normal casting spots, I didnt think there was fish any more.......
I been fishing it hard for the past week or so, and been pulling 2 3lb'ers few 4lb'ers, One big old 10+ lber ( biggest bass to this day) and another 8lber on the other side of the pond, were the water comes in.
I think they been in there when the pond was built. and eating anything they can.
Last night I was fishing a red spinnerbait, caught a maybe 1 1/2bl'er.......the fish as all beat up teeth marks; you could see were another fish grabed on to him, scars, the top fins were pretty much gone, this fish should have been dead

That seems like some pond haha. They are said to be draining the pond where i fish All i am going to do is grab huge buckets take as manny bass as i can and bring them to another pond near by

As long as the amount of bass and amount of food are not off kilter, a small pond can maintain some big fish! Below is a picture of a small pond I used to fish (under an acre, roughly 30,000 sq feet) . Pulled many 5lb plus fish out, 2 or 3 around 8lbs, and lost one that well over 10lbes. Amazing little lake! I also pulled my personal best of 12lbs out of a 5 acre pond... go figure!

Ponds can be deceiving. I have seen some big fish pulled out of 3 acre ponds.

Small ponds can hold big fish, I love them because you don't have to cover much water to find fish. It is normally fairly easy to catch pond bass as long as you don't spook them. If you see a big fish get down low and try to create a smaller profile so they won't see you and spook. Always fish facing the sun so you don't cast a shadow on the water.

I mean this pond is starting to get pressure a lot and it was a finesse type of pond to begin with. You need to cast a jig or a small finesse worm right next to branches but if you could. You would hook up. It is starting to slow down now so this weekend i am going to try some spinner bait and rattle traps and see what happens
