A Time to Grow......Mac
I've learned a lot from the people and participation in this site and this forum in particular, but am having difficulty lately learning about techniques, strategy and presentations. I'd like to see us designate just one week to focus on specifics of presentation. We willingly share the lure we use, but don't often tell exactly how we use it. The value and knowledge seems to be in the How....at least that's what I value learning the most. I posted about my friend outfishing me by wacky rigging small curtail grubs, putting them on the jig hook sideways to make more commotion on the retrieve through the weeds and slowing down the fall on the drop. To me, that's the meat of presentation, not the type of jig, test and type of line, rod, reel, etc. etc. Then to add pauses between pulls, a small twitch at the end of a pause, more meat, food for thought.

Good idea but...if one guy gets on and tells about the wacky rigging a jig with a wacky style then the next guy gets on about worm fishing and then the next angler posts about A-rigging.
That will end the discussion quickly because there are now comments on 3 techniques as opposed to a through explanation of different anglers ideas on one. Maybe choose a week to discuss wackey followed by a week of jigging or swimbaiting discussion would be even better so anglers can share ideas not just an idea given and moving on to the next. Many things I hear worked great in one persons water and not anothers. But once you know the 'whys' or 'hows' something is done you can easily make minor adjustments to the technique to improve your own fishing. Whys are very important to me for just that reason. Just a note, this group of anglers along with most every group I've had the priveledge of associating with seems to easily take conversations in a totally different direction. I belonged to a bass club awhile back and WE were going to do the same thing at monthly meetings. It was extermely hard to talk specifics of presentation because everyone wanted thier lure presentations but maybe didn't believe in 'whacky rigging' and the discussion would turn into multiple lures to use 'instead' of whacky rigging. This can be good but again the topic changed and now no one was talking wackey presentations but on every reason why not to whacky rig as opposed to how to whacky better. Just some thoughts on a good idea .

But back to the post - I found a guy with two '67 Plymouth Barracuda fastbacks for sale. Body & frame for each, neither has a power train. The bodies are rough, but the frames look pretty good. Do you think this would make a good project? Bryce, Bryce, anybody? |

For Gods sake let's stay on topic here! I've never been able to close one nostril with a finger and blow a big wad of snot out of the other nostril like I've seen guys do. Every time I've tried it I ended up just blowing snot down my chin or all over my shirt. Japanese Beetles play hell on my cherry trees every summer, nothing I do seems to help. Last week I saw the first major migration of blackbirds flying over the house. only women bleed......mares eat oats and lambs eat ivy......one more silver dollar......there's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold.....fog rolls in.....doves love sunflowers.......deer love corn....hapyy is jiiiiiid......jssut oyu waayyyt.........sjdfjejfuennfnue*&%%&^**%&^%&^%&^G TGGGg6tgege6gueh7hfihfr7hh8fuwe7fhuirof7rehfeyrfer hfoiurhf%^#$%%%%%^&*&&^&GBVVYTFbyughuye4gbyuhcbhgu yhgf34hdhwigdwybdytgduywbdtywguygduwyu

Maybe you could buy them, and the guy who patches all of the holes in your boat could give you a bulk discount...

I really like the idea Mac. Joe made very good points too. I'd think we should dedicate one week to proper handling of your catch.
