Question?

I have had numerous anglers ask me to join BFC.

I've told them that this forum is CLOSED to ALL NEW MEMBERS.

Am I correct that this forum is now on it's final legs and will not now or ever except new members again?
Now that the sole sponser dropped out my guess is Kevin has NO REASON to continue this site.

I truely hope I'm wrong but some little fishes tell me I'm not.

So anglers the true answer is.................

At this point, the site is not accepting new members.

We haven't had sponsors for quite some time though. The ads at the top of the page were affiliate programs. When you clicked on the links and purchased something, the site (Kevin) got a portion of the sale for the referral.

As for the forum being on it's last leg, I can't really answer that. From the little I've been on lately, things have really slowed down. Is it because it's summer and we're out fishing? Or is it because there's no new members to spark new conversations, ask new questions, etc.?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: basschat.yuku.com is always open to any and all of the members here no matter what happens to this site (because I truly believe it's the people that make this site so great, not the site itself.

It sounds like you have more insight than anyone else. If you know something that is factual, tell us. I doubt anyone has heard a peep from Kevin, we would just be speculating.

This place always gets quiet in the summer but this seems different. The writing seems to be on the wall but I haven't seen or heard any proof of anything.

Personally I've been busy helping a friend start a small business and fishing 3-4 days a week. (one of my favorite signatures from another board is " I've spent most of my life fishing and the rest I've just wasted".

Any speculation about the sites future is just that. Of course I'd like to see the forums open to new members again and I'm optimistic it will be. Having spent considerable time reading old posts it seems to me that the boards (like all things) seems to run in cycles. I think we're just in a temporary trough.

If I'm wrong and this site peters out like the morning topwater bite....I've really enjoyed my time here and will miss yall.

We all know why Kevin disabled the new registration, we were having a problem with spam. Kevin obviously has other things on his plate, and good luck to him with that. Its ok, whatever happens.

So now we are a private club, just be happy you were in before the lock.
But I am not overly joyous that we cannot attract or accept new members because of the SPAM issue. There should be a way, seems Kevin took the "easy way out", but it is what it is and maybe later it can be what it can be. If not, choices will be made. I enjoy participating here and will continue until this site is either taken down or we move somewhere else.

If it means keeping the bots and spam out, so be it for now. Maybe some day in the near future we can re-open membership, but until then, I kinda like this group of folks. Especially come college foot ball season.

I feel like this place is kinda like the end of the movie The Sandlot, where they said when a kid moved away, they didn't replace him in the lineup, and they just went on playing. Then I guess one day the critical mass was lost, and it was over.

Of course we can make a crappy sequel down the road with a new cast, if yall want.

I have been reading a good bit. Just don't post much. I was crazy busy for a while, still busy now but fished Monday and today (Saturday). And workin the rest

I like our group. And college football is fun around here. Go Tigers! (Clemson of course, since we beat Auburn and LSU last year)

But we need new members, hopefully that will be fixed in the next few months (hope!).

what does Kevin do, I mean when people mention him, they say his is always super busy, is he fishing pro or semi pro, or run a some sort of big business, wondered why it has been slow, I wont name drop but yea been hanging out on a few other forums and a NC based one, ohwell I still frequent this site
