How to rig a Stanley Ribbit Frog

Am new to Stanley Ribbit frogs and need a bit of help in how to rig them with a single point Gami 4/0 or 5/0 EWG hook?

I have rigged my first frog thru the point of the nose then bring it out the bottom of the throat. I then twist the hook and take the hook up thru between the legs and the point comes thru the plastic and lays in the small crease all the way down the back. I've noticed the frog is coming back across the water upside down which makes the point of the hook face down in the water and the bend of the hook above the water in the air.

Try using a heavier (not bigger) hook.
Try various different angles on the initial hook insertion.
Try poking a small finish nail midway in the belly...horizontal.
Try a weighted screw lock type hook.

Finally since it's best to let a fish "have" a frog for a moment before the hookset, and during that moment anything can happen in his mouth, it probably doesn't even matter unless the you think the color difference between the top and bottom (if there is one) is hurting you.

Stanley actually has 3/0-5/0 double Ribbit frog hooks.
Walmart has them so shouldn't be hard for you to pick up a pack and try them out.
Bottom of them works kind of like a rudder keeping frog up right and running true.
Else I use 4/0-5/0 screw locks, weightless.

I use a single 5/0 EWG hook and the frog does come back upside down occasionally... I pause my retrieve for a count of 2 or 3 and it usually it rights itself, but not always. If it is coming back upside down every cast, I pull the hook out and put it back on.

The type of frog bait your talking about is notorious for flipping upside down on the retrieve, some more so than others. I have a pack of Stanley Ribbet frogs and I must say that of all the frogs I've used, it's more prone to flipping upside down than the others I've used. The Strike King Rage frogs have been the truest running frog of this type that I have used, and I think it's because of the V shaped keel style body design. But even they will do the same thing from time to time. I have found the weighted screw lock type hook Ken mentioned is about the best cure your going to find. Use a 5/0 size in 1/8 oz weight and your about as good to go as your going to get.

By the way. Those Stanley Ribbet frogs make a pretty cool jig trailer when your wanting to offer a big bite presentation.
