after reading reviews on fireline, i have been disappointed in the 14lb smokey line.left terrible black marks on my hands and it reels in funny. backlashed a couple of times BUT has great feel. does this black stuff come off the line eventually or what?

I've used 14# Fireline for a year on one spinning reel. It effectively got rid of the twist that was occurring on that reel. It is subject to loops and tangles like mono. It also seems to dig into itself a little, and doesn't cast as far or flow off the spool as smoothly as mono. However, overall, I find it satisfactory since twist is out of the picture.
