high pressure

The long spell of high pressure we've had here in Kentucky seems to have really killed the bite. In 4 outings now, I've had 6 bites and zero fish at all. Right now the pressure is at 30.13, hoping it'll fall back down to around 30 soon. What kind of tactics do you guys use when the fish seem really sluggish and lockjawed? I've tried a lot of soft plastics, working them really slow..but I'm still not getting any bites really.

Downsize your baits, but on the opposite side of that, sometimes burning a crank through them will get a reaction strike. Worth a try anyway.

High pressue always seams to put the fish VERY tight and deep into cover around here. I always go to the thickest cover I can find. When I cant get em in the cover I look for em off of points,ledges,etc usually suspended. Small baits and painfully slow presentations usually results in a few fish.

I usualy try and pitch a weightless worm or senko as close as to the cover as I can get without get hung and fish it extremely slow. If that dont work I try something like a small tube or a craw close to cover................... But like Lizards said burning a crank right by it might be the ticket to a reaction strike.............

High Pressure killed the fishing here last weekend. The fish were suspended at 13'-15' in 20'-25' deep water, along sheer vertical drops from the bank. Only caught 4 or 5 shorts. That to me is the most difficult bite. There doesn't seem to be a bait that will go to thatt depth that can stay there and sit still, unless your on the bottom. I ended up throwing crank baits that ran 10' to 15' so as not to be below the fish and cranked slow. Tried jig-N-pig..swimming it at that depth...maybe should have gone to a jigging spoon. Anyone here use jigging spoons in late summer under those conditions?

I know its a pain in the arse but you cxan make some crankbaits neutral buyoancy if you go to a pool and carefully weight the lure till it just hovers in the depth you want. Ive done it and its a killer bait.

It never ceases to amaze me the things we come up with-Bass fishermen are natural born tinkerers, myself included. I don't know any of us who don't experiment with different things to improve our ability to catch green or brown fish. Gotta love it!

when i have high pressure i use a downsized buzzbait real close to cover,or like lizards
said wake them up with a reaction strike
