Lake Fork Weekly Fishing Report 3-8-04
The Bass fishing this past week was hit or miss. Strong storms and high winds made fishing tough at times although we did have a couple of nice days to fish and we have now put another Bass in the Lunker program.
The water temperature has finally reached 58-60 degrees in some areas and the Bass are moving. Before the week was over, we managed to catch some nice Bass and located a few fish on the beds. The weather was a lot warmer over the weekend and the forecast for this next week looks very good. Now that we are into the full moon faze, look for there to be a large number of Bass moving into shallow water to spawn and the Bass fishing will only get better from this point on. Lake Fork is on the rise but we are still about 2 feet low. The water temp can range from 52-60 degrees depending on where you are and the time of day. We are catching Bass on a lot of different baits right now but so far Red Traps and Spinner Baits have produced some nice Bass for us up to the 8 lb range. The Crappie are also starting to move a little toward shallow water. We had some reports of Crappie being caught from under the bridges and on some of the shallow main lake points. Minnow and JIgs are both catching some nice Crappie and in a couple of weeks we should be able to boat some good limits. We are about to get into some of the very best Bass and Crappie fishing of the year here at Lake Fork. Don't miss your chance to try and catch a Trophy Bass.
