				 | the yin and yang of bassfishing

how many times have you heard that fishing wind blown banks are best for fish? 25-30 times this year alone. well here is one i seen this very day i was in a creek wind blowing left to right about 10 mph, bright blue sky, this creek was a tad stained the shad were inforce but they were on the left hand bank not on the wind blown bank. i caught bass on the left hand bank but not on the wind blown bank. i fished both sides caught fish in laydowns. fished laydowns on the wind blown side caught nothing . even using the same bait. think about it... zooker

I like fishing windy banks. Last time I was at my cousins lake the wind was blowing like crazy and the minnows were in the little channel. Then the water turned muddy allowing for predators to move in. I caught 4 bass in 5 minutes but then had to leave.

WE hit Brooveville lake yesterday and it got windy out, and like you said most of the time the windy bank has the fish, but this time all of our fish came on the west side of the lake where it wasn't windy at all due to the big coves and tall hills..shad flipping everywhere in the north end of the lake, we got a couple of fat bass on crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

You know, Zooker is right here. Often when I really do good I am thinking outside the box and that is in everything. I think Zooker has hit on something here in fishing. I have had a lot of times where I have fished places not where you would necessarily say there has got to be a bass there, to catch a good fish over 3 pounds. I think fish also learn to pattern fishermen in a way.

my buddy -shag nasty- while normally not a bass fisherman. told me of a place this summer he caught 30 bass out of. i told him he was isane. i never seen to many guys fish this area and the ones that do crappie fish it. so it peaked my intrest to the point were the next time i happened to be on the lake i fished this place. well ole shag was right -i caught 9 keepers from this spot- i have routinly hit this area and the bass tend to stay in the same places -mostly in and round trees and rock piles- but even now i don't see more than 2-3 boats fishing this area all crappie fisherman.. and it is a place i normally just go by going to other spots i know of. zooker

Being that I am in a canoe a lot of the time, I like to stay on the calm side, and I still manage to catch plenty of fish. In FL, a lot of lakes don't really have what you would call mud around the shores, so it just stirs up sand and the water doesn't becaome silty like in other areas.

Other variables seem to be oxygen rich areas, direction of light/shade, other available forage not prone at the moment to be on the windward side, change in bottom composition, and on and on and on......good thread, thanks!!! Good fishing, Mac Bowing
