Default Islandbass’ Completed Labor (New Homemade Lures)

Hey guys!

My daughter’s school has an annual fund raising auction and despite my beginner status in making lures, I decided to make some lures to have auctioned off. I put together two packages: A set of five inline spinners and a set of three bass plugs.

Putting both packages together really took a lot out me, when you add in coming home late, getting the kids ready to bed, then go to a cold garage to “get er done.” The Mrs. thought I was nuts and while she didn’t say anything, you can feel what she thought yet not one word did she speak. For you young ones, you’ll know what I mean when you get married!

Here is the set of 5 inline spinners. Three have Indiana Blades, feature amateur dressed VMC size 6 trebles. They are intended for trout, bass and other pan fish. The other 2 have French blades. The smaller has a size 4 blade and VMC treble and the other a size 5 blade and size 2 Mustad triple grip. Yeah, baby! Man, do triple grips look awesome! These big boys were intended for steelhead and salmon, but I think with a bucktail, a pike or muskie wouldn’t mind.

The three bass baits were a joy and pain to make. A joy because they were fun to make and a pain when you have to make them with a deadline.

The popper in the “island” fire tiger color scheme features a VMC treble dressed with white chicken feathers and chartreuse flashabou. It is the fourth I ever tied in my life.

The other popper has the standard red head, yellow body scheme.

I dubbed the propeller bait my “Golden Glitter” red shad. The picture does not give justice to the shine the golden glitter reflects. I chose this dark color to be a killer for the right before sunrise and before sunset top water bite that happens here in October. The red baits have x-rap tails in the rear and Mustad triple grips for the belly hook.

Thanks for putting up with my long-winded post. I just hope that the person who ends up with them is a basser or troutie or knows someone who wouldn’t mind having these in his or her arsenal. I am happy to have made them and sad to see them go.
