Went to the creek area up the road with my oldest daughter for a bit... caught a few little bluegill... then a surprise, a small bass took the crickets i was using for the bluegill...
At first I thought it was a warmouth but after closer look it was a very fat and chunky LMB. I did not get a picture but it was 9" long and a good 20 oz. Most of the 9-12" LMB we have here are slim and streamlined, but this one looked more like a bluegill with its shape. I could have set it down on the ground, got a picture and could have passed it off as a 5 lb bass (with no size/weight comparisons). There are plenty of bass in this small creek area, at least 3 or 4 that are a good 18" and 3 lbs. plus... sad part is they are not taking a single bait I toss out there.... |
