Default Dating Line

I called Berkley and the lady told me how to read the date code on Berkley and Stren lines. She also stated not to buy line more than two years old......it tends to dry out and get weak, especially when stored in non air conditioned rooms.

At the very bottom of the spool label, you will find four markings....you need only read the first three....they are month, day and year. The month reads as a letter, A being January, B is February, C is March and so on. The second digit will be the day and the third digit is the year.....they only use the last number of the year, so 6 for example, represents 1906.... Some codes, such as on BPS Excel, do not read the same way, but at least this will help when buying Berkley or Stren products.
