Default Two ideas...both work well.

For some genuine giggles, match a Team AllStar 785C (or Avid AC66M?) with a Chronarch 50MG, #20 braid, #12 fluoro leader, a 2/0 Gamakatsu G-Lock, 1/16 oz tungsten weight, unpegged, in front of a GLASS bead, pegged, and a 4" Dead Ringer in Red Shad, Watermelon Pepper, or Green Poopkin. Light weight, easy casting, and fun. whether the bass be 12 inches or up. Light rigs like this delay the need for surgical repair of shoulder, wrist, fingers, prevent or delay overall fatigue, and let even small bass give a good account of themselves.
Another good lightweight approach is to mate the same reel and line/leader with a Falcon Lowrider 5-167 "Weightless Worm" rod and toss a Texas-rigged 4" Tiki (Same hook, little or no weight added) Stik or a Wacky-rigged 4" Tiki or Senko, using a 'katsu Weedless Finesse hook (1/0 for Tiki, 2/0m for Senko). This rig really appeals to the terminally lazy among us (See:FlyRod) and is often just the trick, post-spawn, as the water warms.
As HOT weather approaches going light 'n small will pay off...bigtime...in terms of both fatigue and fishing enjoyment and success.

And...
As Reb will bear witness...For each member of the crew, take a freezer grade ZipLoc bag, add some after-shave or cologne and some water. Fold a small towel, such as a surgical towel or shop rag, and seal it in the ZipLoc after pressing out excess air. Do this the night before and freeze same. Carry them in the cooler and allow them to partially thaw as the end of the trip nears. Don't press out all the excess liquid...great for washing hands.
After trailering the boat, pass everyone an icy and fragrant towel...pure goodness! That little restaurant on the road to the lake might even let you in if you smell better than usual. This is why I take a serious shower BEFORE fishing, BTW. That, and the towel, make one more welcome in public places and YOU feel a lot better. Actually, you can use them throughout the day, keeping them in the cooler when not enjoying them. If anticipating that, I make TWO towels per person, one just cold for all-day use, one frozen for day's end.
I leave the towel hanging around my neck all the way home...mmmmmmm.
Oh, if you have a female crew member, do NOT use a man's cologne for her towel.
Well, that's that.
