any of you guys out there canoe fish?
last year a buddy of mine gave me a one-man canoe. it leaked a little and the metal bar that goes through it for stability, is pretty rusted. I took it out once last year with my uncle and anthony in the jonboat, and i got my stuff and jumped in it, and sank the front end of it, so i've been skittish since. but i took it out today in a pond, and it scoots through the water pretty good. I like the way you can manuver it and your sitting with your butt under the water level. but the bad part is if your leaning back on the little bar [ i put my life jacket over it and lean back] and you go through those pads that are out the water you brush against it all. I paddled through the pond and after about 15 casts my spinng reel's line poofed to a ball, but thats last seasons line on it, so it was bout time. So i decide to go paddle around the back of it, go across the dam and do some exploring.. i saw atleast 3 big fish turn right next to me or as soon as i reached them with the boat. I got about halfway to the head of the pond and the beaver jumped in the water and it put off a wake like a speed boat as it was swimming through the water. then it stopped and turned towards me ![]() as i was paddling back towards the truck you could hear the beaver slapping the water. it sounded like someone dropping a weight ball in the water. But i was just curious about how many of you fish from canoes
