I started off this year with one primary goal...to catch a 5 lb bass. Now you southern guys (and maybe some of the Northern guys as well) might not think that's a really big thing...but in Indiana, a 5 lb bass is a big fish. The state record is only 14-4.
Well, my trolling motor stopped working again today at Patoka Lake (stupid rotary switch is bad), so rather than just pack up and go home, I decided to troll a creek channel Woody and I know pretty well, and has paid off for us before. Well...the picture says it all. I finally got the HAWG I've been hoping for. ![]() Since they finally brought the Lake up to Summer pool, and our little heat wave finally broke, the fish finally showed up in the creek channel again. (and yes, Woody...the fabulous Norman's Splat Black DD-22 was the perpetrator once again!) I caught her with one barb. When she came up, and I saw that, I nearly had a stroke trying to find the net. I was sure I was going to lose her, and didn't want to risk it lippin' her. On a funny note, look who else I caught on one barb only. ![]() It's not ever day a guy catches his biggest bass ever, and his smallest ever. ![]()
