Good weekend on the river
Turns out that my inability to find fish over 2.5lbs was shortlived. I fished yesterday, Sat, and weighed 10.4lbs. Not a bad day but caught a few in the last 10 minutes on a Hardcore Drum to cull up to 7th place. Today was another story.
I started the day with a nice keeper on a P-70 Pop R that weighed in a little over 2.5lbs. We ran to a pad field and I put 4 more keepers into the livewell and had a nice limit around 10lbs by 8 AM. Caught them on a Sweet Beaver flipping the pads. Moved a short distance and my partner got into the party by catching two in the 2.5-3lb range on craws. I switched up to a Senko and put my big fish, 4.5lb, in the livewell. Things slowed down a little and we began flipping some pads again and I switched back to the sweet beaver. We caught a few dinks but then the big ones turned on. Picked two just shy of 4lbs and my last fish in the 2.5-3lb range in a 15 minute span. Continued looking for one more kicker but knew I had a very good sack. Went to weigh in with 17.00 lbs . It was a very good day on the water. Pics coming soon. |
