Made a couple hour trip today

I got to make a little trip this morning to one of our state lakes. I dropped the boys off at school and then came back home and got loaded up. I finally got away from the house and on the water by 9:30. I thought my trip was gonna get canceled out by the game warden though from the get go. I forgot to get my life jacket and all I had was my padded seat for hunting off the ground. I tried to pass it off as a PFD and he said it wasn't going to work. I asked if I could borrow his or I would need him to open the honor box up and give me my 10 bucks back. He asked if I could swim, and I said you ever seen a fat man that couldn't float and got a chuckle out of him and he let me go on. He was tight lipped on the fishing though. I fished for about an hour and finally landed this 2.5lber on a 3/8 black/blue jig tipped with a Zoom speed craw in about 4' of water in some nasty muck.

I got one more hit and miss and paddled out of the jungle. I went about an hour without a bump and decided the old white lizard on a shakey head, since it has been a buzz. First cast, bam, 2lber on. I fished for a while and had to throw out an anchor, my 2 bricks on a rope. I threw a few times and it felt like a snag, I snapped the rod a a few times and it popped out and I started it back to boat and saw one come out of the deep. If the fish wasn't +24", may I not catch another fish for the remainder of the year. I threw back in there slow and methodical for about 30 minutes, but no takers. I continued to fish until about 1:30 and called it a day. I got to wipe the smell of goose egg off from the last trip over there.
